re: #253 wozzablog

Was last year particularly calm - or is this year par for the course?. When i was over in Denver/Boulder/Westminster in January last year it was chilly, but not massively cold.

It’s been par for the course. Days have been generally 30’s, nights 20’s (F), sometimes dipping into the teens. What’s been different is east of the continental divide has only had minimal snow until this past Thursday/Friday. We are having one of those winter weather patterns where the jet stream is pushing storms up and over (north) of the east side of the state, around the continental divide. So, places like Vail is getting 2-3 feet snow events, 100 miles east of that, nothing.

The steady below zero over the last 24 hours is not rare at all, fortunately it doesn’t happen consistently over any long period of time any given winter.

Of course I’ve noticed that Europe/Paris has had a more wintery winter, with temps dipping regularly into the 20’s (f) at night.

That doesn’t bother me. That’s why when I visit France, I do it in the winter. I can stand a Paris winter better than any Paris summer. And all in all, less crowds and the prices are somewhat better.

I’ll be there in a couple of weeks.
