Yes, it’s less doable now in the economic sense (I had the GI Bill). The physical bit is possible if you don’t like sleep. I used to dictate my homework on cassette to my wife while she drove me to work/school and she would type gobs of it up for me. My usual weird job on the assembly line was stop-and-go, so I could do a lot there.
