Well, sure, they did. But times have changed, and the financial world now offers so many new ways to make money (and rip off the peons) that I doubt they’d be willing to return to the old days.

The only people pushing the gold standard are middle-class wannabes. You’ll note that no one in the 1% is pushing for it.
