They’re referring, of course, to the Declaration of Independence, where it says: “We hold these truths to be self-evident: That all men are created equal; that they are endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights; that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.” What they seem to keep getting wrong, obviously, is that this is the Declaration of Independence, not the Constitution; that the Declaration does not explicitly reference the Christian God, but merely uses the phrase “their Creator” to describe some unknowable concept; and that the rights described mention Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness, none of which involve guns save for that guns make taking away those inalienable rights much, much easier.
