Ann’s language is authoritarian. Like she’s scolding children.

Agreed. Likewise, Michelle looked comfortable up on the stage, as if she was sincere in what she was saying and the feelings she was trying to convey. Ann looked like she had been pushed up there and cue cards shoved in her hands to give a speech she didn’t feel comfortable giving.
