I’m getting a bunch of Tweets as a result of Mark Ruffalo’s RT of my NY Times “End The Electoral College” article, complaining that if we eliminate the EC “California and New York will determine every election”

I’m like NO YOU DUMBASS because states will no longer be a factor, just individual votes.

I would be in favor of keeping the EC, just weighting it so that electoral votes represent the states’ actual share of the population and not their seats in congress, and only having it kick in if no candidate receives an uncontested majority of votes.

But that is only a pipe dream as long as the GOP continues to draw its core support from less densely populated states.
