my guess would be that, if republicans manage to fuck this up, Democrats will bring out the discharge petition as a kind of a deus ex machina, and then that will give “moderate” Republicans a chance finally to put up or shut up.

Think it is a done deal in the House. The Dems were ready to provide more than the minimum votes needed to move to a final vote. I firmly believe McCarthy made a deal for that support. Wonder what it will be?
