That’s all over the world. But I agree that the police in the USA (and across the world) has morphed into a para-military organization complete with armored vehicles, air supports, sniper teams, etc. A lot of these changes took place soon after 9/11. There was a lot money flowing around so a lot of small town police departments took advantage of this and took part in changing into para-military organizations. Along the way came the expansion of police powers not limited to those found in the Patriot Act but through court decisions. Now I’m not saying we live in some tyrannical state but the means for running a tyrannical state are certainly there.
