It’s possible to dive underwater without a Self-Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus. There’s also free divers, who are crazy mad people (see also cave divers).

I agree with the free divers, some of them are just insane. On the other hand, I’ve met a number of cave divers, and without exception the ones I’ve met are very methodical, detail oriented to a compulsive level and possess an very high level of technical skill, knowledge and judgement. (yea, I may be joining them to a limited degree at some point in the future). I think it’s because the rash and casual among them got weeded out a long time ago.
