‘Fruitcake’ isn’t an attack on anyone’s race or gender, its calling someone crazy. Saying “you’d have to be crazy to hate this” isn’t bad, and given that ‘fruitcake as a bad gift’ is a common meme around Christmas I don’t see anything wrong here.

You really don’t know that the term “fruitcake” is an anti-gay slur?
