I won’t lie, having your health insurance tied to a job SUCKS ASS because of reasons. In our situation, they changed what plan was available to us this year (so our insurance changed in January) and then announced the sale of his unit to another company in April. Which means …different insurance, YET AGAIN. And the tax code implications of the one we had from January to September (or rather, don’t have from October to December…) are a mess.

I’m grateful we have any at all, but that doesn’t mean I think this is a great system.

Talking with friends, it makes as much sense to me as having car ownership tied to employment. Oh you’ve been fired? No more Ford for you…
