If I have one disappointment with Truman who I generally like a bit is his judicial legacy could have been better and I think he could have done more on corruption. However, where I give him strong points is foreign policy and domestic policy especially Civil Rights.

I was raised to idolize Truman, but my god, the Witches’ Sabbath of stupidity in 1947-8 that landed us in the situation we’re in now! Unilaterally declaring the Cold War with the Truman Doctrine, unilaterally starting the arms race when it was realized that the Army had (parts for) 13 atomic bombs and no plans to make any more soon, deciding after insisting on the breakup of the British Empire that we had to help the French regain their colonial empire in Southeast Asia, deciding to assist and bankroll the occupation of Palestine instead of carving a Jewish state from the territory of Germany…it just goes on and on.
