I know where you’re coming from. On my father’s side I’m Italian, on my mother’s side I’m Cuban, so I’ve heard my share of insults for both. I was able to never let it bother me. I’ve never heard Italians or Cubans use those terms among themselves, though.

Ecuador on one side and Puerto Rico on the other. And yes, I have never heard the family use those terms amongst ourselves.
