What the fuck is happening in this country?

I was talking to a home builder the other day (primary contractor) how much more a home would cost if he didn’t use “seasonal” workers (Texas euphemism for undocumented workers).

He said if it was a trad house, maybe 20% higher. If it was a stone clad house, probably 30% higher. Americans don’t do exterior stone work anymore. They just don’t have the necessary skills.

Too many nativists fail to understand that undocumented workers are an integral part of the nation’s economy. Remove them, and many jobs will go unfilled, even with higher wages offered to American citizens. So we can expect dirtier hotels, more costly homes, vegetables and fruits, sloppier lawns and gardens, etc., etc.

Not to mention the number of professionals who have recently been deported.

It’s madness. The long-term consequences will be felt for decades.
