To me, I’m seeing the story as the fallacy of what happens when you only have your ideology to guide you and this case it was Soviet Communism but it could just as easily been Capitalism.

The need to have the bottom line meet or exceed expectations — the need to meet corporate goals for personal bonuses — the need to outsell your competitors— all behaviors under capitalism that could lead to similar catastrophes.
