The 2022 and 2024 elections will be, in part, about abortion.

But I am reminded that when Hillary made abortion point-blank part of her statement at one of the “debates” with Trump that her statement didn’t seem to generate the political heat she may have hoped.

It all sort of died quickly in the media, because Trump is a good showman and knew his obscene carnival is what sells tickets.

This is going to be difficult going forward. If the Dems get more than 52 Senators they can try to go with a national law legalizing abortion, getting rid of the easy filibuster. Assuming the Dems hold the House and Presidency.

I don’t have a very clear crystal ball. Wish I did, but I don’t.

I don’t know how all of this will play out in states where a Senate seat is closely contested.

Which these days are few states. Maybe Georgia. Maybe Nevada or North Carolina. The politics of most states currently is pretty polarized.

Of course in 2016 the debate wasn’t being conducted with the backdrop of all the abortion clinics being closed in half the states and women being prosecuted and dying. This could prove to be a very potent issue for the Democrats, but only time will tell.
