But here’s the thing - conservative “social” issues are not the ones that need to be the political issues of any conservative party. The political issues need to be focused on small gov’t and fiscal issues; when that’s in place, then everyone will be free to be as socially conservative or liberal as they want to be.

I did not say that as well as I could have - but I think the gist is there.
