Maybe you’re right, but there’s no way to be even remotely sure—again, because there was much war & upheaval going on at the time and neither of us knows what was considered a minor at the time. I know that until a couple of years ago the minimum legal age for marriage was 17 (it’s now 18), but who knows what it was before that? I sure don’t. A quick Google search tells me the age of (sexual) consent in Israel is currently 16, but I have no clue what it might have been in 1947.

In 1947, a lot of teenage “israelis” were sole survivor DP’s, with no papers of any kind. They weren’t considered minors. A girl who ran away from home to marry someone and join his family, in the part of the country where the UK protectorate had different kinds of laws for different ethnic populations and was preparing to disengage entirely… and it sounds like she might have faked her death to run way in the first place? Not sure she even thought she had any right to leave the in-laws.
