Male directors can try to justify the behavior however they like but the giveaway is that this tends to only happen to women. The presumption is that men can be conversed with on an intellectual level but women are somehow inherently less capable creatures that need to be manipulated instead of reasoned with. It’s disgusting and it needs to be called out no matter who is doing it.

I think you could find cases of male directors and male actors having the same battles.

You might find some female directors that can be tough on either sex too.

Not excusing it, but artists can be emotional and demanding. Why did the Beatles break up? Other bands? Getting a variety of egos that all think they know best on the same page is historically tough.
