The Germans never overthrew Hitler. The Soviets never overthrew Stalin. The Chinese never overthrew Mao. The North Koreans have never overthrown the ruling family.

I think that was the point I was trying to make — maybe not eloquently; i.e. dictators can be overthrown in the modern world only if there are outside forces.
