I don’t agree, and I sure hope it doesn’t work out that way. Another ‘establishment moderate’ is just going to lose again. The Republican party needs a leader who has enough credibility with the base that they don’t jerk the reigns in on him every week.

I hope the GOP base vs. GOP establishment fight proceeds very visibly. In particular, swing voters really need to understand what the GOP truly stands for these days.
