Yep, it amazes me how some people imagined that merely electing Bernie President would’ve brought about the change they want. Its the same mentality of wingnuts enraged that the GOP Congress couldn’t force Obamacare repeal down Obama’s throat. That’s not how the US government works. The only way to pass progressive legislation is to get a majority in both the House and the Senate. And since the average House congressional district leans Republican, the only way to get a House majority is to run centrist Democrats in those districts who might hold some apostate views on issues like abortion or gun control.

Exactly. And quite honestly the one thing that really got me about Bernie is he really didn’t seem to understand that. His response to when the GOP would block his legislation is that people would take to the streets in anger and uh Bernie that’s not how it works. It’s on you as President to push Congress to get legislation passed. But exactly, the key is electing enough Democrats who hold our basic philosophy so we can get key legislation passed. Some of them will have disagreements from us on some issues but that’s what a party is. It is much better to have a more moderate minded executive with a more liberal Congress than a more liberal minded with a more conservative Congress. I can’t see Bernie taking the time like Clinton and Kaine have to work to get other Democrats elected throughout the country. It’s honestly why Bernie’s not a great leader like people think he is. His heart is in the right place but that doesn’t mean he should lead the way.
