I fully expect that Trump will present every sort of legal challenge, make every sort of claim and summon supporters to defend him when the time comes.

unless he wins reelection, his term ends on 1/20/21 at 12:00 noon
even if no one else is sworn in
there is no mechanism for him to ‘stay in office’ / refuse to leave

if the election is anywhere close, he would have to make many, many legal challenges - not just ‘one’. Because there is not just one election. They are administered by states and run by counties (where the counting takes place)
