I don’t think its a matter of any president’s fortitude regarding Saudi, but rather the our failure to become less dependent on oil. Until that happens, the Saudis have the better hand.

It’s entirely about fortitude. Sometimes, as with all of us who want longterm success in life, the difficult decision must be made. Short term sacrifice for the betterment of a longterm result. It is no different for nations either. If we were to stop importing oil, watch how quickly we would stick two pipe in North Dakota, Alaska, Colorado, and the Ocean to start producing our own. Americans have a long history of achievement, which sometimes needs to be awakened, but it is there.
