Agreed. What really pisses me off about otherwise smart people even entertaining the idea that we should lay some level of blame for Trump on Obama is that it’s goddamned useless, lazy, and whether intentional or not ultimately seeks to absolve the majority of white Americans of being so fucking racist, sexist, ignorant and utterly mendacious that collectively we voted for an abject and overt monster. It shouldn’t have even been close, and yet it was, entirely because of us.

I couldn’t agree more! As i wrote the other day, Trump is the symptom, not the cause. There is a cancer growing (again) in many western democracies, but it metastasized in 2016 in the US.
