re: #252 Dr Lizardo

This seems to be the biggest part of the problem, at least to me. The British political establishment, or at least a big part of it, doesn’t seem to understand that the UK is not the superpower it once was; they’re punching above their weight and thinking they’re like Mike Tyson when in reality, they’re not. Granted, the UK is one of the biggest economies in the world (not to mention in the EU) but their notions of “British exceptionalism” have led them down a primrose path of delusions of grandeur - and if they don’t wake up and recognize the realities of the 21st century, they’re on the road to ruin.

Mind you, I can still somewhat see Leave’s point. The EU is on a one-way track to be a United States of Europe within even our Baby-Boomer members’ lives, and just as much as South Carolina only signed on to be part of a federation, not a semi-unitary state, so too did the UK.

Of course, like South Carolina, they only realised what they were in for and tried to pull out when it was too late, and they’re lucky a European Civil War wasn’t the result.
