I must insist that Turkey is a secular kinda-sorta-democracy with a majority Muslim population. Ataturk would want me to mention that.

I can vaguely see the charge that the semi-circle is actually a crescent, I think it’s ridiculous, but you can sort of see what they mean, visually speaking.

I just can’t think of a reason why if you were gonna secretly work a Muslim visual in, you’d pick the flag of Turkey, specifically. They’re not exactly jihad central, what with their yammering to get into the EU. Hell, they’re in NATO.

Right. Officially it’s supposed to a secular government but that’s a work in progress.

A few years ago there was a controversy surrounding the logo for Proctor & Gamble which was being called a satanic symbol. I’m not to familiar with that but I think it also involved a boycott of sorts. They changed that logo to a simple P&G.

It’s a little worrisome that designers have to be careful for so called hidden meanings.
