I, as a 55 year old white woman, would give over my ID. If, however, I was treated as if I had done something wrong every time I encountered a LEO, I would react in exactly the same way she did.

At a point, you should not have to expect to be targeted because you’re black, or an immigrant, or a less than well dressed person walking through a well dressed area.

That makes the assumption of guilt concrete for no other reason than skin color or the clothes you wear. And that is wrong.

Personally, I don’t think anyone needs to know my address—or other personal information. Unless I have pulled-over for a driving violation, I won’t give my ID to a Police Office without a warrant.
