I wrote the above verses. The song is rather longish, so I am not going to put it all down tonight…but I was inspired to write it after hearing about the ‘Gettysburg of The West’ and the disastrous incompetence of Hood.

I borrowed heavily from themes such as taking shoes from dead friends and canister fire ripping apart the people next to you. It gets a bit grim.

If you want something else you can have someone sowing their names onto the backs of their uniforms so they could be identified when they died… I hear the Union soldiers did that before one battle…
