re: #275 Birth Control Works

hmmm …

Audible (before that audio books-cassettes- from the Library) has certainly bettered my ability to listen and hear.

I retain more if the the words used in the book are foreign to me. Books written before 1900, translations, non-fiction with a science bent —I often can’t properly pronounce words from such books. I get much more out of such books when they are properly narrated.

I never would have finished War & Peace in book form.

Our brains are set-up for storytelling. So, yes, I probably remember the audio version more —at least in Fiction.

We are so different! I don’t retain anything listening to it. It’s like my brain shuts off and my mind wanders. I’m not an audio learner. I’m a visual learner. It worked really well with textbooks, especially if we were allowed to use them for open book tests because I remembered approximately where in a book I saw something and whether it was on the right or left page.
