The Obama campaign’s timing really couldn’t be any better. Everyone knows the two men hate each other and this ad just made whatever behind the scenes negotiations are going on between Gingrich and Romney’s campaign that much more awkward. Now Romney’s campaign is going to have to require a public retraction of the liar comments and a possible formal apology.

I think this is largely why Santorum has chosen, instead of outright endorsing Romney, telling his supporters (paraphrasing) to vote their conscience at the polls.
