No kidding. I remember the reasons some Bush supporters gave for supporting Bush over Gore and Kerry- “He’s a good, Christian man.” And Al Gore and John Kerry were bad, satanists?

There were a lot of excuses made for supporting Bush from a lot of sides. One of them I used to spout was that he was a “man of conviction,” that even if what he believed in was horrible, at least he believed in it so solidly.

Yeah, I admit it, I was an idiot in those days.
