But to buy that, you have to believe that torture actually works.
It’s a typical ticking clock stuff. I admit with shame that I used to cite the ticking clock scenario many years ago.
Of course, once one starts comparing the bad and the worse, where does one stop? Suppose that to make a terrorist disarm his bomb you would have to torture/rape his child in front of him. I mean, this hypothetical is as “legitimate” (or rather not) as KT’s. Now, acc. to KT’s logic doing it would be a moral obligation.
