Big voter turnout in Wisconsin/Dane county:

Voters have packed the polls throughout Dane County, with turnout that could reach 70 percent in Madison, said city clerk Maribeth Witzel-Behl.

By 4 p.m. Tuesday, turnout numbers in Madison and the rest of the county already exceeded typical spring turnout of 20 percent to 25 percent. In the city, 35 percent of voters had cast ballots. In the rest of the county, 31 percent had voted.

Typically, the 4 p.m. turnout doubles by day’s end, Witzel-Behl said. If that pattern holds, Madison will see 70 percent turnout. Karen Peters, deputy clerk for Dane County, said she expected about 45 percent turnout in the county.http://host.madison.com
