Unfortunately, a number of the comments continue with the conflation, and in a couple of cases the reason is clear: Those commentators see conceding any point to ‘the left’ as surrender and believe that whatever claims the ‘other side’ makes must be rejected on that basis alone. It a very toxic version of the “Not Invented Here” phenomenon.

The Right’s reaction seems to be to present the shooting as an isolated police incident while presenting the rioting as symptomatic of the black community
