Color me skeptical. Flake has not to date shown any real courage when it comes to actual votes. Is it confirmed that Flake will be away most of August? And what is required to vote a nomination out of the judiciary committee? Can the Majority Leader bypass a tie vote and force a vote on the floor? If so, can’t Pence then cast the deciding vote to confirm?

If Flake isn’t there to vote on the floor, the Democrats can block any nominee they want if they all vote no, since McCain isn’t available.
