Without context the first slur that would come to my mind with “fruitcake” is crazy. As in nutty as a fruitcake. The gay slur would be secondary, but I think the word fruitcake is most commonly used to refer to baked goods.

If I can’t use the word fruitcake any more, what should I call the cakes I make for the holidays that are a cake with fruit in them?

Doorstop? Boat Anchor? Recycled gift for some relative you don’t like?
