Last week I got an offer to settle a debt for 25 cents on the dollar. I told him that was an insult, and not acceptable.

I thought 70 cents on the dollar was the going rate, but what do I know.

When I changed banks years ago, I closed my account on payday. They redeemed my account and included the autopay, then they also put it in my account. I didn’t realize it and redeemed it. When I realized, while going over statements, what had happened, I went into the bank and paid them back. They were surprised - apparently, they’d written it off.
