Yeah, Pacific Rim is classic kaiju movies with a modern spin. Best reason to watch is Idris Elba. Neat sfx, but the story was a wee bit thin.

Looks like this year’s Godzilla is going to be the modern take on kaiju that will have lasting ability.

Battleship on the other hand was virtually unwatchable.
