The party was called the “New Party”. National Review writer Stanley Kurtz wrote about Obama’s joining it a few weeks ago:

To forestall one potential objection, let me point out that ACORN and the New Party were close allies back in the 1990’s and when the New Party went under ACORN retained its records. Thus in order to examine the New Party’s data, Kurtz had to look into ACORN’s records. The article is not some Fox News anti-ACORN polemic.

This is about as relevant as people who signed the Communist pledge and became targets for the Red Scare a decade later.

We’ve moved past the classic Cold War.

Words are ambiguous. The aspects of Socialism that people identify with today are: Equality for diverse populations and a world in which Uber Rich do not live by a different set of rules than the rest of us. And yes, that capital flows. In part, it flows to help the masses.
