I’m almost ready to accept that as an alternative to the 24/7 A-Rod-a-thon that CNN, ESPN, etc. have been doing.

Alex Rodriguez is a raging egomaniac whose life is not in danger (except for persistent use of PEDs). His livelihood is threatened, not because of Bud Selig or mysterious conspiracies involving the Yankees, Bud, and unknown other forces, but because Alex thinks that he can beat the rap and that his is the only case that MLB trumped up when 12 others took the 50 game suspensions (and several apologized publicly for their acts) without appealing.

Ultimately, whenever he ends up retiring and gains eligiblity to the HoF, it’s the writers who will weigh his merits for entry in the Hall. They once thought him a sure-fire 1st ballot HoFer. Now, he joins the steroid enhanced ranks who have lied, obfuscated, and otherwise cheated to get ahead.

I doubt he’ll get in now - despite his statistics - because he simply refuses to acknowledge that it was his own actions that led him to this place.
