How about a Greyhound? They don’t take up much space!

I’ve heard that they are very chill. Run/walk them a bit and then they just want to sleep or lie about for the rest of the day. I’ll work on the Missus.

Our dog is great, but we’re still getting to know each other after two months. She loves tug of war. She’s worn out two ropes and we aren’t buying another soon, so she goes into her crate and picks up bedding towels to bring to me to try to start a fight. But mostly she likes to curl up next to me on the sofa. And when I’m in our bedroom she’ll come in to bonk me with her nose but then goes to the landing outside the door to lie down until I come out. Then she goes bounding down the stairs, leaps a couple of yards across the wood floor to the carpet and does what she can to engage me in either a tug of war match or some serious belly scratching. Whenever I can I indulge.

ETA: and right now she’s happily scraping the marrow out of an antler I bought for her today.
