True—Dukakis didn’t have Project Lincoln, RVAT, etc. Stiff headwinds for Trump.
Also, Dukakis was not a well-liked VP four years before his run to one of the most popular Presidents in US history. He was the outsider running against the VP of a popular President. 1988 was my first Presidential election (I was 20) and I heard Dukakis speak at Rutgers - I remember being more interested in Robert Redford, who introduced him. One thing I think people forget as to why Dukakis lost is that he’s short. Bush and the GOP definitely practiced their “can’t have a girly man as President” schtick that year. I don’t think that works against Biden.
