Hello, who need polytheism when any decent monotheist knows the fallen angel (the Devil) serves as the foil, the alternative universe, the lesser alter-ego of the Deity.

I think that elevating Old Scratch like that would almost make a sort of half-way polytheism out of it. Introducing all these other characters always complicates things, just like in a sit-com or a drama.
