re: #279 darthstar

All blogs are ‘just blogs’…I actually got pissed off at other people online once on Yahoo Chat in 1998 or 1999, and again once on Slate’s political forum around 2002. Both times I felt like crap for losing my cool, and after a couple of days off returned to realize that it wasn’t worth getting upset over. I haven’t been drawn in by others like that since, though I sometimes rant angrily about shit that pisses me off outside the blogosphere—BP’s oil spill, the Iraq war, octomom, and rain at 7,000 feet in January—beyond that, nada.

And as I said during some of the several internal meltdowns that I’ve witnessed among members at dKos, blogs are kind of organic in nature. Cliques form, people get attached to a way of thinking, and when that image gets shattered, people react.

I do understand the sense of community that comes from being part of something, and I’ve totally gone off myself a couple of times in other forums (mostly over trolls and spammers), so I can understand people getting upset.

I can also understand personal feuds going on between blog owners as running their blogs is a pretty big part of what they do every day. But some of these folks seem to have created “grudge blogs” and appear to have been nursing anger & resentment for years.
