Early reports were that Clapton’s heli went down. I was sitting in a tent trailer outside of Calgary when I heard. I thought it was bad that Clapton died, but when it was revealed it was Stevie I was shocked.

I knew a bunch of the guys who worked at Creative Artists Agency back then. One was Stevie’s agent, Bobby Brooks. He was on that chopper, too, so it was like a double kick in the chest.
