For the math geeks, you can now get a home version of Matlab for $150. Last time I had looked at it, the student version was like $500 and there was no way I could afford the individual version.

Mathematica now has a desktop license for $375.

I hope this is normal pricing and not just a sale. I cannot afford or justify paying for these right now, but after I’m working again I’d really like to get both of those at some point.
