I cannot think of a suitable word to identify a person who would murder an innocent man in such a despicable fashion in order to make a political statement. I feel so sorry for this man, for his family, and for all of us who are driven to absolute revulsion by this senseless murder. I suppose the word monster might apply, but monster is somehow too tame.
