“simpler times”

This is a loaded phrase like “family values,” and it’s highly subjective. Even if we take Beck’s sincerity at face value, I’d be skeptical and outright suspicious of any politician who promised “simpler times” for the US. ESPECIALLY if the politician was conservative, because I am reasonably certain what that would mean.
