Actually, the politically expedient and cynical thing would have been to not speak out about it, not put himself on the line.

Instead, he did the right thing, stood up against racists, against bigots, for the constitution, at political risk to himself, in a time where America is just wallowing in the opiate of vicious othering, tribalistic paranoia, wearing 9/11 on their sleeve like it gives them carte blanche to circle the wagons, put an asterisk in the constitution and cast out an entire religion.

He did the right thing, and it’d be nice if you could admit it.

OK just to make you happy I will admit it, not that I ever denied it, but as you said the politically expedient and cynical thing would have been to not speak out about it… are you happy now?
